Photoshop Field Diagrams

Following up on yesterdays field trip to survey the Grose River we uploaded our pictures into Photoshop. R used a graphics tablet and pen to draw over the main details in the photos to create these lovely field diagrams.

A graphic tablet is pretty cheap and makes it much easier to draw lines than when using a mouse.

Here's how:

  • Open the photo in Photoshop
  • Add another layer over it - this is where you will draw.
  • Use the pencil tool to trace around the main features.
  • Make sure that all the lines join up or go off the page otherwise your "paint" will bleed.
  • Use the paint bucket tool to colour in each shape.
  • Make another layer and add labels with the text tool.
