Cooks Cottage and Fitzroy Gardens

The Fitzroy Gardens in Melbourne offer 26 hectares of lush greenery, walkways and monuments, including Cook's Cottage, the oldest building in Australia. We explored the cottage and strolled through the beautiful gardens for a peaceful escape from the city. With its historical significance and serene atmosphere, the Fitzroy Gardens and Cook's Cottage are a must-visit for nature lovers and history buffs alike.

Envirofest 2020

 

This weekend we went to Whiteman Park for Envirofest. There were several displays of native wildlife, flora and fauna.

Spring-time at Kings Park

Today it finally stopped raining so we went to Kings Park to see the spring flowers and to play in the newly renovated Naturescape. The children loved the new cubby sculptures and the improved climbing ropes. It was even just about warm enough to get into the stream for dam building.

Sculptures and Stuffed Things

Today we finally got some sunshine so we took a trip to the Swan Valley for some sculptures and stuffed things!

First up was the Gomboc Sculpture Park. The kids had a great time wandering among the sculptures and visiting the gallery exhibition. One of our favourites was a huge crushed drink can, with a toilet seat for a ring pull. It was actually a mini house!

In the afternoon we visited historic Guildford for the Natural History Museum. We enjoyed exploring the cabinets and hidden crevices of the museum to discover all sorts of random stuffed animals, fossils, shells and skeletons. We never did found out who these severed hands belonged to.
