We have been using some of the Kumon range of books to improve fine motor skills. L is working with
Lets Cut Paper, (which R has already completed) and R is working on
Pasting Jigsaw puzzles.
The books are designed to be cut up, beginning with simple, short, straight cuts and advancing to more complicated shapes. In the jigsaw book the pieces have to be assembled to show the completed picture. R's cutting skills have improved dramatically! We use children's scissors that are actually sharp (unlike most available!) that also have a spring mechanism which helps children to open the scissors again after snipping.
