Ancient Britain

Today we explored Celtic and Roman Britain with a visit to Butser Ancient Farm. Here there are several reconstructions of Celtic roundhouses and a Roman Villa. Be sure to go around the site with one of the guides who will tell you all about the peoples of ancient Britain. The children fed the farm sheep and goats, cooked bread over the open fire and tried their hand at an archaeological dig.

After lunch we drove on to nearby Fishbourne Roman Palace to look at the remains of the Roman villa and mosaics. The children got to dress up in Roman clothes and play some Roman board games.
