Cave Kids
This week we have been investigating prehistoric people. First the children dressed up as cave men wearing "mammoth skins". Find out how to make the costume here.
We discussed the types of materials cave men would have available to them and the ways they could make tools and other useful objects. The children had a go at making coil pots from clay. Unlike the real cave men we used air drying clay.
We talked about how prehistoric man might make a bag for carrying things using mammoth skins and twine made from plants. Then we had a go at making our own collecting bag. We used a scrap of leather and some string. We used a punch to cut holes around a circle of leather and then threaded string all around. Once the string was pulled up we had a bag.
We want to make a prehistoric axe next, once we have collected some stones of the right shape.
