R has been asking about leeches so we decide to go pond dipping and try to catch some. We bought fine nets from our local garden centre's pet and aquarium department. We fixed one onto a bamboo stick with cable ties to allow us to reach the bottom of the pond. Just nearby we have the Cascades; 8 lakes connected together by smaller lakes and waterfalls.

Sadly we didn't manage to catch any leeches. We did manage to get lots of small fish, a tadpole, damsel fly larvae, water beetles, water fleas and snails.
