Melbourne Gardens, Art & Architecture

 

Melbourne has an amazing array of gardens, architecture, public art, and galleries. First up today we visited Fitzroy Gardens and Cook's Cottage.  

We crossed over the train lines to Federation Square for some crazy architecture, the ACMI, Ian Potter Gallery and Koorie Heritage Trust.

ACMI

ACMI is an awesome museum in Melbourne that's all about movies, TV, gaming, and digital tech. They've got loads of cool interactive exhibits, movie screenings and events to keep you entertained. As well as more conventional exhibits, they also have more trippy ones like you can find Here. They also have some cool movie-used costumes and cars, like this.

Fitzroy Garden Trip

Today we took a walk around Fitzroy Gardens.

There were a few fountains, including the Dolphin (and other sea creatures) fountain.

We saw a mossy old fountain that had a rustic, preserved look.

There was also a statue of Diana (the Roman goddess of hunting) with her hounds.

In Fitzroy Gardens there are a wide assortment of flowers, but the hydrangeas stood out to me.

I saw them in a few colours, but these blush pink ones were my favourite.

Around the place were a few whimsical, fun sights including a carved 'fairy' tree!

There was also a model Tudor village.

Cooks Cottage and Fitzroy Gardens

The Fitzroy Gardens in Melbourne offer 26 hectares of lush greenery, walkways and monuments, including Cook's Cottage, the oldest building in Australia. We explored the cottage and strolled through the beautiful gardens for a peaceful escape from the city. With its historical significance and serene atmosphere, the Fitzroy Gardens and Cook's Cottage are a must-visit for nature lovers and history buffs alike.
