We did a black and white photography lesson yesterday, and I have some of my favourite pics!

I took these in our gardern, the one on the left is a metal lizard, the other one is the shadow of the pool fence on the floor.

Black & White Photography

Today, I had a lesson on black and white photography. This is a purple pansy.

This is a photo of a spiderweb. A spider seems to build this web just to annoy us humans, every time we walk through this area we get a spider web in the face...

This is a photo of my sister. To get the black and white effects, I used photoshop to make a color image black & white, then messed about with the contrast and other settings until it looked nice.

Wanneroo Regional Museum

Yesterday, I was taken to the Wanneroo Regional Museum. Above is a Karen harp, from the native Karen people of Myanmar/Burma. It was brought over by the first Karen refugee to settle in Wanneroo.

This is the ELNA electric sewing machine.

 This is a Minerva treadle sewing machine. Operated by a foot treadle, this is what would have come before the ELNA electric machine.

Wanneroo Library Museum Trip!

Yesterday we went to the Wanneroo Library Museum. My favourite piece there was the paper ship floating on an atlas (above and below)

I also liked a lantern;

There also was a really nice looking teacup there.

There also is a haunted winch from the Alkimos wreck there too!

Photography Lesson

Today we did a photography lesson. We used extention tubes and concentrated the flash with a pringles tube (but we didn't eat the pringles... Mum did). We have edited them on Photoshop. My favourite picture is the one above, but we got some cool photos of a jumping spider!

Macro Photography

Today, I did some macro photography. Above is a small jumping spider. To take these photos, we used extension tubes for the Canon DSLR camera, and a Pringles® tube for a flash focuser. Here are some of the other photos I took...

This was a small flower, about 2 centimetres across or less. I thought it came out quite well.

This is another photo of the jumping spider. Not as well focused, but still cool.

This is an extreme close-up of a leaf. You can clearly see the individual veins in the leaf.

Lastly, this. These are some weird flowers, resting on a piece of wooden mulch with a leaf in the background. Pretty.

Art gallery WA

'Tea Service' by Touze, Lemaitre and Blancher (c1925)

Today I went to the Art Gallery of WA to draw some of the items/pictures. In the Glass Prize section I liked the 'Noble Fruit with Antigua' piece by Nick Mount (below).
