Shapes

Today we did some investigating with 2D shapes. Firstly we played a game of "guess my shape", where the children had to identify properties of shapes such as number of sides, curved and straight lines, parallel sides, and right angles. Then we named the unfamiliar shapes.

The children each made a carroll diagram and sorted their shapes. R drew some extra shapes onto his diagram.

Then we discussed what tessellation means and tried arranging some shapes to see if they would tessellate.

We will continue to investigate shapes, including 3D shapes in the coming weeks.
