We have been on our failsafe diet for 4 weeks now. The children's behaviour has improved a bit and toileting has improved massively. We have had 2 blips, firstly when the children had their hair and faces painted (chemicals can enter through the skin too), and secondly a reaction to flavoured children's paracetamol (unflavoured is not available). With the hair colour, behaviour and toileting deteriorated for about a week, with the paracetamol an explosive temper was almost instant but thankfully lasted only a day.
This week we are ready to try our salicylate challenge. We will eat lots of foods containing large amounts of salicylates and see if there is a reaction. I'm really hoping we pass this challenge as salicylates are found in most fruits and vegetables.
