Gelli Prints

Today we used a Gelli Plate to make these mono prints. We kept to the circles theme. Gelli Plates are a rubbery tablet of jelly like material. You can buy them on-line or at craft fairs. It's also possible to make your own temporary ones using cooking gelatine.

Here's what to do to make a print.

First put some acrylic paint in one or more colours on the plate. Not too much, we had a bit too much on this one.

Next use a roller to cover the plate with paint.

Make marks in the paint. You can draw with cotton buds, make shapes with cups, cookie cutters, bubble wrap, cotton reels etc. 

Place the paper on top of your pattern and roller over it with a clean roller.

Pull your print off and make a WOW face.

If there's still paint on the plate you may be able to pull a second lighter print or you can go right over the top again with another colour. Once the print is dry you can layer others on top. You can mask off areas with card shapes.

Just clean up everything with water before the acrylic dries. Here are some of our favourites.
