Flour Words

Today we wrote words in flour. This allowed the children to use both their visual and tactile senses. We used ordinary flour in a baking tray. The letters come out more clearly each time the children go over them with their fingers. Repeated formation really reinforces the shapes of the letters and words. First we revised previously learnt tricky words (those that cannot be sounded out), then we learnt 2 new words; "was" and "be".

R will have these words (and others) in his word search, crossword and dictation this week. L is encountering these words in her beginning readers.
